The inspiration for this song came from the preaching and teaching of Richard Kannwischer, Senior Pastor of Peachtree Church in Atlanta.

His book, Cultivate: How God Grows the Fruit of the Spirit Within Us, became the foundation for his 2026 sermon series exploring the fruit of the Spirit described in Galatians 5:22–23: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

The title, however, came from an earlier sermon and is a simple but powerful reminder about the greatest gift Jesus has given each of us: “…He has already paid for our salvation with His life.”

"It’s Already Paid For"  brings those two messages together. The nine expressions of a Spirit-filled life are not the price we pay to earn salvation. Rather, they are evidence of what God can grow within us as we live in the grace we have already received.

The song is a reminder that salvation is not something we can purchase or earn through our own efforts. The price has already been paid through Jesus Christ—and the life that follows is one in which His Spirit continues to cultivate and grow us.

LYRICS

Been wonderin’ what’s in store,
Seen too many I love walk out that door,
For a sinner and a doubter like me,
Can I cross that river…will I see?

Whispers in the quiet say, “Child, don’t you lose your way…”

It’s already paid for, you don’t owe a thing,
Grace like a river, mercy like rain,
Every scar, every shame you’ve worn—
At the cross, it was all transformed,
You don’t have to fight that war anymore…
It’s already paid for.

“Fruit of the Spirit”…where do I go?
“Start with love, then comes joy,” I know,
We’re here for hearts that hurt and bleed,
To serve, to give…to meet the need.

Be the hands when no one will,
Speak His peace and calm what’s still…

It’s already paid for, you don’t owe a thing,
Grace like a river, mercy like rain,
Every scar, every shame you’ve worn—
At the cross, it was all transformed,
You don’t have to fight that war anymore…
It’s already paid for.

Be the first when no one moves,
Touch the broken, bring the truth,
Heal the worry, calm the storm,
Love like He did…open arms.

Heaven waits for those who believe,
He wore the cross, He took the grief,
From the grave He rose to show—
You’re already loved…you’re already known.

Arisen…showing what lies before…
Reminding us…
“It’s all been paid for…”
It’s all been paid for…
“It’s all paid for…”

It’s already paid for, the debt is gone,
Written in mercy, carved in stone,
Patience, kindness, faith and peace,
All these gifts are flowing free,
Self-control through the Spirit’s call—
Possible now ‘cause He paid it all.

So I’ll walk on…through every door,
No chains behind me anymore…
I’m living proof of what He’s done—
It’s already paid for

You’ve already won.
