"Who’s in Control" came from an unusual and difficult moment. The song was written while recovering from a major injury, after days with very little sleep and shortly after coming off prescription pain medication. Searching for relief, a doctor prescribed medical marijuana, and after taking a gummy, the thoughts and questions that became this song began to flow.

Pain has a way of stripping away the distractions of everyday life and bringing deeper questions to the surface. Who really directs the course of our lives? Are we entirely in control, or are there quiet, divine instructions at work that we do not always recognize or understand?

Country Fox Music believes the latter.

The inspiration for reflection does not always come through joyful experiences. Sometimes it arrives through pain, uncertainty, sleepless nights, and moments when life seems beyond our control. "Who’s in Control" grew out of one of those moments.

The song paints a vivid picture of that struggle—the very human desire to understand what is happening to us while wondering whether a greater hand may be guiding the journey. The answers are not always obvious, but sometimes the questions themselves lead us toward faith.

LYRICS

Am I steering my life or just ridin' along

Is this my story or someone else's song

I wake each day but I don't always see

Who's makin' the choices inside of me

There's a voice that talks and a voice that hides

One grabs the wheel, one just goes for the ride

Somewhere between what I feel and know

There's a deeper place I can't control

Is it me… or somethin' else

Pullin' strings I never felt

Who's in control — my mind or my soul

Am I the driver or just along for the ride on the road

Ninety billion voices inside my head

All tryin' to tell me who I am instead

Am I awake — or just dreamin' it all

Standin' tall or about to fall

I scream it out but I still don't know

Who's in control

My conscious mind keeps fightin' for space

With shadows I never chose to face

A thousand thoughts I didn't invite

Still show up every single night

What creates me, what makes you

Is it what we say or what we do

If I can't control what built my soul

Then who decides the road I go

Am I lost… or unaware

Of the part of me already there

Who's in control — my mind or my soul

Am I the driver or just along for the ride on the road

Ninety billion voices inside my head

All tryin' to tell me who I am instead

Am I awake — or just dreamin' it all

Standin' tall or about to fall

I scream it out but I still don't know

Who's in control

My mind… oh my mind

Are you mine… or am I yours this time

Every thought — every breath

Walkin' that line between life and death

Can I break what I can't see

Or is this just what's makin' me

If I step back… will I find the truth

Or just another version of you

Who's in control

Who's in control

Who's in control — my mind or my soul

Am I the driver or just along for the ride on the road

Every answer brings me back again

To the place where it all begins

Am I awake — or just passin' through

Tryin' to find what is really true

I shout it out but I still don't know

Who's in control

My mind… oh my mind…

Who's in control…
